PT. Gunanusa Eramandiri Tbk
A Journey from Family Business to Public Corporation with Global Reach
In the early 1990s, Indonesia’s food industry was at a turning point, with rising demand for processed nuts and innovative food products. Looking at the opportunities, Mr. Gunawan Tjokro, a visionary entrepreneur with a solid academic and corporate background, founded PT. Gunanusa Eramandiri in 1993. What began as a modest family business, operating from a 1,000 m² facility, has grown into a publicly listed corporation – GUNA (since July 2024) with a global presence and four subsidiary business entities.
The company’s growth is driven by a clear identity—its Purpose, Vision, and GUNA Values:
- Purpose: To create a noble impact for the nation.
- Vision: To be a trustworthy corporation in Asia by providing world-class products and ecosystem services.
- Values (GUNA):
- Grit – optimistic, persistent, and eager to develop.
- Unity – collaboration, respectful, and open minded.
- Noble – integrity, nobility, and responsible.
- Agile – adaptive, innovative, and solution-oriented.
Expansion Through Innovation
From its humble beginning, PT. Gunanusa Eramandiri Tbk now operates six factories and one distributor channel in Indonesia. To keep pace with rising demand, the company is building two new plants: a fruit puree facility in Pati and a high-capacity nut-processing plant in Cikarang, each covering an area of 2.5 hectares. These investments underscore Guna’s aggressive strategy—entering new markets, innovating with fresh product categories, and maintaining uncompromising quality and service excellence.
This move also reflects Guna’s confidence in the long-term potential of the food industry, particularly as consumer demand for healthier, natural, and plant-based products accelerates across Asia and beyond.
